MLM Prospecting: Top 10 Proven Prospecting Tips
MLM prospecting simply means the use of various methods for generating leads for your MLM business. It is no secret, your MLM business requires not just leads, but qualified prospects, in order to produce sales and sponsor reps.
So what exactly are “qualified prospects” and how do you find them when MLM prospecting? A qualified prospect is an individual or sometimes a business who has a need or a want that your product satisfies. I would even go so far as to say that you qualified prospect has a problem that your company, business opportunity or product solves.
When MLM prospecting, you simply need to advertise your solution and those with a relevant problem will come to you. There are numerous methods you can implement when MLM prospecting to generate leads.
Today I am going to share my top 10 proven MLM prospecting tips if what you want is more qualified prospects for your MLM business.
MLM Prospecting Tip No. 1—Local Meetings: There are a ton of methods that can be implemented when MLM prospecting online—so much so that offline strategies are often overlooked or neglected all together. This is a huge mistake. The only way to grow your business is to position yourself in front of real live people, whether actually in person or on the phone.
The notion that the internet alone can be used as your only source for MLM prospecting is misleading. Yes, you can generate tons of leads online if you know the effective strategies that are working today, but at some point you will need to personally connect with your prospects if you are ever going to build a lasting relationship with that person.
Some local meetings include your company’s live events, meetup.com groups, other business networking groups, chamber meetings and even association meetings.
MLM Prospecting Tip No. 2—Post It Notes: Post It Notes for MLM prospecting? Sounds crazy but this is such an easy, low-cost methods for getting your phone ringing. All you need to do is get a stamp made from any office supply store or even online and flip through a Post It Note pad stamping each one. Then take your notes and put them everywhere you go—the bookstore, gas station, library, etc. Watch how many phone calls you get.
You need to make sure your message on your Post It Note has a little qualifier on it or else you are going to get far too many tire kickers wasting your time. What I mean by this is you don’t want to make your message so vague that it appeals to everyone. For example, instead of “Make Money From Home, (123) 456-7890,” you could say something like, “Are You Hustler? Prove It. Make Money From Home, (123) 456-7890.” The former will get anyone to call because everyone wants to make money, the latter on the other hand will get you calls from only those that are motivated.
MLM Prospecting Tip No. 3—Talk To People: If this scares you it doesn’t necessarily mean you are not a hustler, but you won’t be a superstar until you get over this fear. Talk to everyone you meet. Go out of your way to talk to new people, people you don’t know even. Make some small talk, ask questions, connect in some way. Then transition by saying something like, “just throwing this out there,” or “this may be a shot in the dark, but would you be open to a side project if it didn’t interfere with what you are currently doing?”
You’re either going to get a yes or a response looking for more info. Most people are not just going to say “no.” Follow up by getting some info from them so you can connect later, such as their phone number, email address or business card. What you absolutely do not want to do is to start pitching your product or opportunity. Be busy, say you have to run, but can get them some info later and then follow up with an email or a phone call.
